Blackjack's name is supposed to have come from French card games. It was in the Casinos of France in the 18th century that the first known game of Blackjack was played. Then, the French played it as Vingt-et-un which literally means twenty one.

Albeit blackjack reached the Americas in the 1820s it was not until in 1931 that blackjack gained popularity in the gambling cities of Nevada and New Jersey. Despite the anti-gambling policy of the United States, Blackjack gradually gained popularity due to its non-complicated system of game. Due to this, Blackjack became one of the most popular and profitable casino game ever

Blackjack strategies were unknown and its probabilities uncalculated until Roger Baldwin released in 1956 the article "The Optimum Strategy in Blackjack". It caused a multitude of changes in Blackjack gaming as casinos started to change the rules of Blackjack to give them more leverage over casino players. People protested eventually which forced the casinos to use the original rules of Blackjack.

In the 1970s and in the advent of computers, Blackjack game strategies advanced as computer simulations showed the odds of winning in Blackjack. Vast literature about Blackjack was published in this decade and professors, scientists, statisticians and mathematicians became more engrossed with Blackjack. This scared casino owners. Changes were eventually made like some Blackjack casino games shifted from single decks to 2-8 decks which increases the chances of dealers in winning.

Ken Uston, considered the legend of Blackjack over the last decades also fathered the group blackjack gambling. The year was 1977 when Uston with is team won over a hundred grand in a few minutes of Blackjack gambling. He was eventually blacklisted from Vegas' Casinos for using blackjack cheating devices. He sued but in 1987, Uston died with no known cause in his rented Paris apartment.

Group blackjack gambling send waves of worries to casinos where enormous money is won by this type of strategy. The strategy is simple. A group of players go to different tables, wanders around and making bets while at the same time counting the cards. Once in a favorable spot (where signals from other group mates can be seen), bigger bets are made and losing becomes almost nil.

Presently, card counting is already difficult in Blackjack games since casinos have already introduced using 2-8 deck games. The goal is to make Blackjack more difficult to play for abusive players.

Albeit Blackjack evolved harder than it used to, it is still winnable. The technique of winning is highly variable, thus, Blackjack strategies must be employed cautiously for winning chances to increase.
